Abstract: | This Graduation Project describes the process of creating the support of a data visualization of sleep. This tool should improve the sleep experience and knowledge of low literate individuals. Low literacy is a major problem within The Netherlands and healthcare. Their needs are not appropriately met within the communication of health-related information. By conducting a literature research, the main requirements for proper and accessible communication were analyzed as well as different possibilities and technologies to support them. The final multi-media prototype is communicating through storytelling more complex information. New technologies enable new developments to support this target group in their engagement with complex information. The different possibilities for the support of data visualizations about sleep were investigated using existing materials and a focus group. Based upon these findings, a prototype was designed for a supportive tool. Digital media could stimulate more accessible communication to understand more about sleep and its influences. |
