Abstract:Assistive technology is important for disabled people and can help them be active in society and improve their wellbeing. However, designing assistive technology products is difficult and needs to consider different requirements and constraints. In this report, we aim to investigate the design of an online platform for supporting the development of assistive technology tools for disabled people. For this we aim to address the following research questions: (RQ1) What are the key stakeholder requirements of an assistive technology platform for disabled people? (RQ2) How to develop an eye controlled telecommunication robot? (RQ3) What is the conceptual design and requirements for a platform dedicated to assistive technology for people with disabilities? To answer these research questions we have first performed a literature review to gain more insight into the stakeholders, the design approaches, and the available platforms. Based on a stakeholders analysis and the design approaches we have provided a first conceptual design of a platform that will enable the development and usage of modules for the development of assistive technology products. A systematic method has then been proposed to develop the platform and use it for the development of assistive technology tools. Subsequently, an ideation process has been performed that includes the conceptual design of the platform and the design of two separate cases studies.
