Abstract:The Nociceptive Flexion Reflex (NFR) is a reliable tool for studying pain and it can be considered as an objective index for pain threshold. This study will investigate the possibility of online NFR detection while the High-Density-Surface-Electromyography (HDsEMG) signal is recorded. Additionally, an offline method is implemented to examine whether it is feasible to identify a single Motor Unit (MU) activity from the HDsEMG signals and to confirm the occurrence of NFR at the single MU level.
