| Abstract: | In recent years, there has been an enormous growth in the area of intelligent devices for home automation. Such technologies are designed to facilitate people to control their home environments faster and more efficiently. As the Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming more and more integrated into consumer lives, enormous amounts of data will be generated. This comes along with the concerns about how personal data will be used and secured. The UTAUT-model has been used and expanded with privacy risk, level of autonomy, consumer trust and self-innovativeness. This research has discovered the factors of the intention to use of the smart speaker among Dutch consumers. METHOD: The different variables were measured using an online survey. The survey includes nine independent variables measured using a 5-point Likert scale, which ranges from strongly agree (1) to strongly disagree (5). Furthermore, experience and demographic questions were asked. The sampling method was a non-random sample method. FINDINGS: A Pearson correlation analysis and a hierarchical regression analysis were performed. The findings showed that the intention to use a smart speaker is affected by hedonic motivation, self-innovativeness, trust, performance expectancy, descriptive social norm, and effort expectancy. In which hedonic motivation was the strongest predictor, followed by self-innovativeness and trust. |
