Abstract:Understanding care-path processes is important for optimising processes in hospitals. Process mining, which allows the mining of process models of care-paths, can help improve the care-paths followed by patients. Hospitals follow a general predefined procedure for treatment where deviations can occur which impact the health of a patient. Hence, there is a need that these processes are executed in the most efficient way. Process mining helps to identify which processes are being executed as well as bottlenecks and deviations. Analysing the deviations in a process and the frequency of activities allows optimisation and improvement in efficiency of a process. This research will use the MIMIC-III dataset and applies the L* Life-Cycle and PM2 methodology onto it. This paper highlights differences in the care-path processes of the sub-populations ’insurance type’ and ’age’ with the same medical condition and shows that no differences can be found across the different genders.
