Abstract:Purpose: This research aims to develop a supply risk assessment methodology for identifying, measuring and monitoring risks related to inbound supply of raw materials at company X. Research Methodology: Academic literature was analysed and used in conjunction with business documentation and interviews with company specialists to identify supply risks that are relevant for company X. Based on the findings from these interviews the selected supply risks were captured in a factual and self-explanatory tool. Findings: The researcher constructed a monitoring tool that assesses supply risk on material specific level. The tool applies a weighted factor scoring (WFS) model in which the weights are determined by applying the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The tool is able to prioritize raw materials based on factual risk indicators scores. Research implications: The research identified numerous fields of further interest that could be scrutinized in future research like the application of big data in supply risk management. Practical implications: The methodology that was applied and the tool that is constructed can be used by firms that want to take proactive measures in addressing the risk they face relating to inbound supply.
