Abstract:This research sought to explore user experiences of a positive psychological self-help intervention based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. Furthermore possible adjustments to the intervention to improve behavioral intention were explored. Four participants completed the intervention. User experiences were collected among participants through interviews. Questions were focused on the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and behavioral intention. The participant’s showed a positive attitude toward the intervention in terms of perceived usefulness. They thought the intervention was useful and helped creating awareness of their own patterns of behavior. The attitude towards the perceived usefulness of the intervention was more ambivalent. Participants had trouble understanding the terminology used in the intervention and also had problems with the way the intervention was presented to them. Analysis of user experiences showed a positive perceived usefulness and behavioral intention. A number of changes were proposed to improve the perceived ease of use of the intervention, such as developing a smartphone application and changing the terminology used in the intervention. More research into the effectiveness of short-term interventions based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy is necessary but ‘Geluk & zo’ shows promise as an intervention to improve awareness of one’s values before, during or after treatment.
