| Abstract: | Research that focusses on providing healthcare to people with intellectual disability (ID) and substance use disorders (SUD’s) is a field of study that originated only a around a decade ago. The development of methods and materials that fits the needs of this target group, is essential in providing quality addiction care that fits their needs. An intervention that aims to provide such quality addiction care, especially for this target group, is the ‘Minder Drank of Drugs’ [Less Alcohol or Drugs] intervention, abbreviated as MDOD (Denouden, Kiewik and van der Nagel, 2012). Recently, more studies discuss the benefits of instructional videos for learning, especially for people with ID. Therefore, Tactus, an organization that provides addiction care to individuals in need, plans to incorporate instructional videos in the MDOD intervention. This research aims to explore the benefits of such videos for the target group, and to study the level of support among clients regarding the use of instructional videos. This was done by designing instructional videos that showed refusal behaviour and discussing these videos with Tactus clients. |
