Abstract: | Obsolescence is fueled by technological innovations, following a predictable pattern. The resulting loss of reliability and the irrelevance sprouting thereof emphasizes the need for careful examination of information retrieval, both for consumers and academics. Results from a survey found significant differences in opinions on obsolescence. A case is made in this study to therefore consider this phenomenon in triangulation processes, establishing the need for and proposing a fifth type of triangulation to assess the obsolescence and resulting pragmatic relevance. Several considerations are addressed in this form of triangulation, resulting from the findings of this study. |
