Abstract:This report covers two assignments conducted at the DMI department of CTI (Campinas, Brazil). The first is about a design of an automated blade coater. Researchers at CTI work on OLED screens for lightning applications. Affixing of the light-emitting layer to a substrate is done by heating up a solvent with OLED material. This solvent is spread over the substrate by the spin-coating technique or manually by the blade coating technique. Literature shows that an important factor in the blade coating process is the speed at which the blade passes over the substrate. In order to limit the errors caused by the manual control, this assignment was about to come up with a design to automate and control the movement of the blade.
