Abstract:manages the customer flow, from entrance till concluding the needed activity. The system requires a new version after a large grow in target groups. The wishes are varying a lot and the amount of functions has increased in the past years. The main goal is to optimize the current G-BOS software system of JCC Software on the fields of interaction and interface design. The focus of the project is on the flexibility, clearness, distinctness and usability of the interface. The interface also has to be in line with the intuition of the employees. A last goal is to identify the demand for a smartphone or tablet version of G-BOS. Analyses were performed about the system, the stakeholders and the competition. A usability test was conducted to receive a correct view on the use of the system. The current system was used for the usability test at five different town halls and one pharmacy. Drafts were designed by the use of scenarios and a list of requirements. One draft was selected as the best draft by a comparison with criteria and a meeting with JCC Software employees. Especially the possibilities around the flexibility of the draft, made the choice for the chosen draft easy. The draft had to be detailed with the following characteristics: tabs and desk-types. The tabs cause the lack of new opening windows which helped with creating a clear overview. The desk-types caused the integration of the reception-application and the desk-application to be one. The draft is developed in a prototype. The prototype is used for a second usability test at the same town halls and pharmacy. The preference of the employees participating in the test was for the redesign. The employees thought the new interface was clear, distinct and user-friendly. This is mainly achieved by the use of symbols and a calm home screen. The recommendations are mostly targeting not yet developed details. For example, the desk-type ‘Overzichtbalie’ is a JCC Software is a supplier of software solutions for town halls, pharmacies and hospitals. G-BOS is a system developed by JCC Software in the year 2002. The systeelement which is not yet known fully. During the usability test the wishes from the employees are identified on the content of the tabs. It is not clear yet if this is possible and how this should be done. The first usability test had as result that there is no demand for a smartphone or tablet version of G-BOS in the current situation. Most tasks require the employee to use a keyboard and the employees do not own a work smartphone. The puncture room in hospitals are the only clients that wish the alternative version of G-BOS.
