Abstract:This study focuses on the influence of different aspects of strategies of change communication on the effectiveness of communication, measured in affective commitment to change, continuance commitment to change and normative commitment to change. This study used three strategies of change communication: active information supply, participation and expectations and selective information supply. Using online questionnaires (n = 175) the relationship between the different aspects of strategies of change communication and the three components of commitment to change is investigated. It is also examined whether the participation in the change influence these relationships. The results show that respondents who participate in a change have higher scores than respondents who don’t participate, on affective and normative commitment and on the different aspects of strategies of change communication (active information supply, participation and expectations and selective information supply). Another conclusion from the results is that active information supply is predictive of affective commitment to change. The other two aspects of strategies of change communication are not a predictor of one of the aspects of commitment to change. Whether or not a respondent participates in a change does not influence the demonstrated relationship between active information supply and affective commitment to change.
