Abstract:With the globalization of our society distances between trade partners have increased. Over the years technology has been developed which bridge those distances. Contacting trade partners on the other side of the world has never been easier than since the introduction of the internet. As bandwidth of the network increased videoconferencing has grown in popularity. Nowadays there are even companies of which facilitating videoconferences is their main focus of business. Not only business partners use videoconferencing. With the increasing amount of traffic jams working from home becomes more and more popular. Attending meetings through videoconferencing software will become more common practice. But is meeting through videoconferencing really a suitable substitute for face-to-face contact? Is it not better to meet your business associates face-toface? And if so, why? To investigate this we will look at negotiations. Negotiations do not only occur when trying to make a business deal or discussing salary. Also within a general meeting little negotiations can occur, for instance about the order of discussing the subjects. Our goal in this research is to find the influences of videoconferencing on polyadic negotiations
