Abstract:In the game development industry, substantial costs are linked to content creation. Procedural content generation is an effective tool for lowering this cost considerably. Many techniques have been developed to generate content, one of which is the use of generative grammars. While grammars have been used to construct the gameplay structures from which a level could be created, it sometimes is perceived as difficult as it required knowledge about grammars that not all game developers have. This method is still promising as it leaves more control to the developer in which complexity or diffculty the resulting dungeon would have. In this paper we discuss the combination of probabilistic and attribute grammars such that the weights used for the probabilities can be computed base on attributes. Whether this combination is useful will be judged by the affected metrics like the complexity of the grammars written in this language.
