Abstract:Infotopics is a software company that among other products, offers extensions to Tableau, one of which being a Process Mining extension. Process Mining is recognized as a promising method to allow organizations to learn more about their business processes so that these processes can be improved. Nevertheless, this Infotopics extension does not sell as much as other extensions. This is because the extension is not adapted to the customer's demand. To help solve that, this research aims to find user cases in municipalities to apply the Process Mining solution. Besides understanding better the particular customer's demand, this work aims at providing recommendations that will motivate Process Mining to be further used in these municipalities. For searching for the appropriate user cases, this thesis focuses on classifying business processes according to their added value and their complexity. It is important to find a process that at the same time has high added value to the organization, and that has the right level of complexity to allow conclusions to be drawn. Part of this work's research method is based on interviews with stakeholders from diverse municipalities. The selected business process is then implemented in Process Mining and a BPMN model is created. The main contributions of this research are the recommendations to the municipalities regarding the selected business processes and the suggestions to Infotopics regarding the future development and use of the Tableau Process Mining extension.
