Abstract:The ProRail ERTMS Integration Lab (PREI) is still in a development phase. Not all processes are fully designed yet, which results in unclarity about the lab. Also, the activities are currently manually scheduled. This is still going well, but an increase in workload is expected, which will make it harder to schedule manually. In this research, we distinguish various processes at PREI and ways to design them, and we propose an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) model that is able to schedule the activities. We describe 15 management processes, 3 core processes, and 6 supporting processes. The flowchart method with the addition of swimlanes is selected and used to design the core processes, which results in 8 flowcharts. The ILP model is based on the Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP) found in literature. Two objectives are proposed: to minimise the maximum lateness and to minimise the total tardiness. The output of the model is an operational schedule and a resource allocation graph. During the experiments, we found optimal solutions and observed that the objective total tardiness is more suitable for this problem. We can conclude that the model is able to schedule the activities.
