Abstract:This project consists of exploring the possibilities of including ergonomics in the assembly line balancing process of Scania trucks, based on the smaller test case of a pedal car. It involves connecting the software programs AviX and IPS-IMMA to easily gather ergonomic data and conducting manual balancing experiments with process engineers. Moreover, we explore automated balancing approaches using a mixed integer program and a genetic algorithm. The manual and automated approaches yielded good results and provide good options for the future. Implementation for the manual balancing approach is feasible in the near future; the automated balancing approach is less mature.
