Abstract:Pilotfish is a design bureau that struggles with using their IT systems to their full capacity. This became very clear in the Product Definition Document. From interviews it was learned that the PDD had some negative but also some positive factors. These positive factors of the old PDD included the agility and freedom to change the document so it could fit the highly differentiating projects of Pilotfish. On the contrary, the PDD had a information overflow and was difficult to use (especially for new employees of Pilotfish). The PDD has been updated and new technologies were applied to the document. This ensured more standardization and less ambiguity surrounding the PDD. The new working methods ensured a quick process for changing and adapting the new PDD. The medical Design History File was taken as inspiration for the new PDD. This method changed the PDD from a document with an information overflow to a document that includes all key in- and outputs for the project and serves as an index for all of the other information and documents. In an exploratory survey it was found that the employees of Pilotfish thought this was a better method and that it was estimated to save the employees time.
