Abstract:This research aims to improve inventory management at Bronkhorst High-Tech through demand forecasting methods. To meet the irregular customer demand, whilst minimizing waste and reducing the risk of insufficient supply, Bronkhorst High-Tech has predominantly adopted an assemble-to-order (ATO) manufacturing process. An ATO manufacturing process usually requires a well-organized supply chain which has the material and components in stock, to begin manufacturing without delay. Currently, the research company is facing problems in the inventory management of its product components. Customer demand at Bronkhorst High-Tech is often uncertain, due to the highly customizable products, resulting in an overstocking of components. In this research, several-times series forecasting methods are tested and evaluated using historical demand data, to reduce the demand uncertainty at Bronkhorst High-Tech and improve the material planning process of standard components.
