Abstract:During this internship a thermal model of a gas boiler from Intergas has been made. The reason this model had to be made is that Qirion created an intelligent heating control for gas boilers. This program increases the efficiency of gas boilers. One way of increasing the efficiency is to have a low water flow and a high temperature difference between the supply water to the radiators and the returning water to the gas boiler. Most gas boilers can only have a temperature difference of 20 degrees Celsius due security reasons. Intergas made a new heat exchanger and claims the temperature difference can be higher. Therefore Qirion wants a model of this gas boiler so they can test their intelligent heating control with this model. Included in this model is a test board from Intergas that has all the control systems of their normal gas boilers. During the internship this model could unfortunately not be verified due a delay with the test setup. In stead experiments with the model and the test board have been conducted. The goal of these experiments was to check if the gas boiler of Intergas would indeed allow these high temperature differences. In the end it was found that the temperature difference is dependent on the supply temperature. When the supply temperature was high the temperature difference between the supply temperature and return temperature was low. The gas boiler could indeed reach higher temperature differences than most gas boilers but only at a low supply temperature.
