Abstract:With drones being a technology with a lot of potential in a variety of sectors such as the renewable energy industry, research has to be done to see what the benefits are with drone technology, plus what the maturity of the application and what the potential limitations are. This research answers these questions and provides insights and recommendations to further this respective field by applying a scan tool which maps out the readiness of different dimensions. These results then get translated into specific interview questions. This concluded that drone inspection in the renewable energy sector is the next and better step for inspections and that mostly regulation and social problems need to be dealt with by providing more easily accessible information, clear written rules and regulation without ambiguity.
