Abstract:The relationship between wellbeing and psychopathology gained a lot of attention recently within the scientific literature. Some is known over the applicability of the dual continua model, which assumes a two-dimensional relationship between both constructs, within the general population, at a specific point in time. But less is known about its possible use within different clinical populations, especially with regard to the influence of the factor time. This research tries to extend the knowledge base about the dual continua model, by looking at its applicability for a clinical population of people with various forms of personality disorders, over a treatment period of two years. Social capabilities seem to be one of the most important elements within different forms of personality disorders and closely connected to wellbeing as well as psychopathology. Therefore a second focus of the study is, to look at the influence of a certain life situation, ‘having/ not having a partner in their life’, on the relationship of these two constructs.
