Abstract:This master research assignment is performed at Scania Production Zwolle, Scania’s largest truck assembly plant. Scania is a large global manufacturer of trucks, busses, coaches, and engines. Within the Scania Production Zwolle plant, several different supply methods are in place to supply the assembly lines with the correct parts at the right time. Our research is about one of these supply methods, the internal sequencing supply method, in which parts are picked on pallets and transported by reach trucks to the assembly lines. Scania is looking for a solution to improve the productivity of the workforce responsible for this flow. A simulation study is performed to evaluate the different pallet delivery strategies we propose on lead time, travel distance, service level, and utilisation of the workforce.
