Abstract:IT internal control is a way for the IT department or Air France – KLM to protect, above all, their finances. This duty is taken upon the IT internal control team. One of their tasks is to perform ITGC self-tests. While these tests are due at the end of the financial year, the IT internal control team didn’t make this deadline for several years in a row. In this research is we optimize the IT internal control process. This research is conducted as a graduation assignment for the bachelor Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Twente commissioned by the IT internal control team of Air France – KLM. In order to optimize the IT internal control process, the following research question was set up: How can the process of IT internal control be optimized by improving the collaboration between the IT internal control team and the control owners and control executors/IT specialists?
