| Abstract: | The following thesis deals with how the three waves of feminism influenced the students’ discourse about gender inequality in the university of Münster between 1907 and 2019. Newspaper articles were analysed by means of a discourse analysis to investigate which school of thought in each wave predominated the student’s discourse. In the first wave, the proletarian and bourgeois movement were distinguished, and the expectation was that the bourgeois movement was more influential. That expectation was fulfilled. Marxist and radical feminism were opposed in the second wave with the expectation that radical feminism was more influential. That expectation was not fulfilled as both movements had the same impact. For the third wave, women’s support and gender mainstreaming approaches were the dominant schools of thought with the expectation, that women’s support ideas would be used more by students. This expectation was not fulfilled, as gender mainstreaming argumentations were found more extensively. Other findings were, that the schools of thought are built upon each other and that the different political systems throughout the years and other historical circumstances had a large influence on the student discourse. |
