Abstract:The treatment of eating disorders as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder is complicated. Nowadays cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the standart treatment of eating disorders. But in many times CBT lacks effectiveness. A growing body of research indicates that psychological well-being may play a rol in treating eating disorders. Positive psychology and positive psychology interventions aim to increase psychological well-being. At this moment there is no review over the current scientific state of positive psychology interventions as treatment for eating disorders. The scientific databases Scopus and Web of science were used to search for the keywords ‘Positive psychology intervention’ and ‘eating disorders’. 10 useful studies were found. These studys show a decrease of eating disorder symptoms. However the quality of the studys is moderate. The Interventions differ in content, intensity and length. No state could be made about the effictivity of positive psychology intervention as treatment for eating disorders. Future research has to focus on randomized controlled trials, standardized measuring instruments and different types of eating disorders.
