The valence of people’s memory changes during lifetime, differs between gender and can further be influenced by psychological diseases which underlines that life stories are an important part of every single person in this world. This study addresses the emotional differences in those stories between age and gender as well as analyzing how self-defining memories are connected to mental illnesses, wherefore mental health care might profit by taking the results more and more into account during therapy.
