Abstract:Studies have shown that mobile health apps are promising in managing chronic conditions. A mobile health app Geluk en zo is being developed at the University of Twente for people with chronic pain. In this study the user experience of the eHealth app Geluk en zo is evaluated by chronic pain patients by use of the Cehres Roadmap to optimize the app. The intervention makes use of elements from the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A semi-structured interview has been conducted to gain insight into the user experience among chronic pain patients. A distinction has been made between the usefulness with regard to the app and the ease of use with regard to the app. The app was considered easy to use. The technology did not yet work optimally for everyone. In this study it was found that the user experience of the eHealth app Geluk en zo in general was positive. The intervention Geluk en zo can support a rehabilitation process, in order to increase the intensity. In follow-up research a larger amount of participants is needed to generalize the results. In addition, the ease of use needs to be further investigated.
