Abstract:As of March 2018, the first hi-fi prototype of MyDayLight was realized: an interactive light system designed to support people with Autism Spectrum Disorder with attention and organization for semi-independent living. Consequently, MyDayLight was not yet tested out with actual users. Therefore, the motivation behind this research was to identify how users decided to appropriate the system, what further interaction with the system should be possible to enable this, what were the best co-creation approaches and how the system was appreciated in the first place. To answer these questions, MyDayLight has been subject to co-creation phases with three young adults with ASD, advisors and supervisors, encompassing phases of testing, reflection and prototyping. As a result, it has been identified that MyDayLight has mainly been used as a notification system to combat personal deficits caused by Autism Spectrum Disorder. Further interaction with the system mainly allows the system to be more noticeable by the user. Findings on the co-creation approaches suggest the researcher to take a more active role as supervisor as well, something that requires pragmatism and flexibility. Lastly, MyDayLight has been perceived positively overall.
