Abstract:On a life size playground, were four Kinects cooperate with computers to observe player positions, it was tested whether enticing environments could lead to changes in the positions of players as well as changes in the timing of their jumps. Neither the positions of players nor their timing of jumps were influenced by the enticing visualisations as they were not observed properly. However the players did show engagement and were willing to continue playing after the predetermined time period. Additionally algorithms for optimal jump-detection were written. For the jump-detection to work as expected it was a requirement that players stood still before they jumped, as such the second game embedded this requirement which lead to a game where players did not have to move horizontally. The end result was a working game which reacted properly to jumps and lead to engaged gameplay, however it was not possible to influence their behaviour through enticing elements.
