Abstract:Dewulf is a company that assembles multiple types of crop harvesters in Roeselare, Belgium. An assembly facility can be fed by different types of material feeding principles. This research proposes a quantitative method for allocating the least time costly material feeding principle to parts. Decision rules for allocation are determined based on preference conditions. These conditions are depended on part characteristics like weight, size, finish and travel distance. A large improvement as opposed to the current situation can be achieved.
