Abstract:Picture It is an application developed for the start of my Bachelor project and is the name for a new R application that can be used by designers. Within my Capita Selecta I described a modelling programme that can be used in VR. No research was done for this and it was completely theoretical. A research question was set up and the supportive role VR could have in the product development process (PDP) was looked into. Before considering the target group, the design aspects were taken nto account: What does the PDP exactly envelop, which techniques are currently used and what does VR really mean. Next, the target group was looked into: Where does VR fit into the PDP and how can this be translated to a product. For this part of the research interviews were held with IDE nd ME students as well as companies involved with product development. he results were presented with clear results. Despite the fact a lot of different ideas had come up, there was a lot of overlap between the results and the whole could be translated into two different concepts within the PDP. For this, both concepts were set up and potential applicable aspects were ooked into. o come to a concept choice, pros and cons were written down, were considered and eventually one concept was chosen. After choosing the concept demos were made and user tests were held as the chosen concept was coming more into shape. The results of the demos directed the developments o the theoretical concept. At the same time more demos were developed based on the ideas coming rom the theoretical concept. These two processes continuously influenced each other and eventually resulted in a product idea and a series of demos that worked as prototypes for specific parts of the idea. nce the concept had slightly more come into shape a step back was taken and the possibilities for practical translation were re-evaluated. To this end, scenarios were written looking into the differen possibilities of the programme. Using these scenarios the framework (raamwerk) could be made more concrete. When does this programme come in handy and which role does it play at that moment. Dependant on the framework the types of input and output are determined. Once the rameworks were determined the content of the programme could be looked into. Results and indings from the complete process were concretely described and illustrate a clear image of Picture t. Apart from the design of the programme, hardware was looked into as well; what does a consumer need to use Picture It and what does that cost. Picture It is a product and therefore needs a compan to keep it running. Research was done on a vision on the future concerning further programme developments, as well as what such a company would need. It is important to look at which mplementations the programme could undergo. Besides this, the actual future vision of Picture tself has to be looked at.
