Abstract:The activities entrepreneurs undertake are infused with meaning of a result of the expression on an individual’s identity and can therefore serve as powerful elements that drive entrepreneurial actions (Leitch & Harrison, 2016). By using the social identity theory as a lens to understand entrepreneurial actions, new perspectives are gathered regarding entrepreneurial identities and its relationship with organizational identity. In addition, HR-enhancing practices has been added into the relation of the entrepreneurial identity and organizational identity. No study has assessed this combination of entrepreneurial identity, HR-enhancing practices and organizational identity before and it is therefore able to deliver new insights into understanding entrepreneurial behaviour. The results of the analysis reveal that it is important to be aware of the type of HR-enhancing practices used in an organization as some have more effects than other. Moreover, organizations should be aware of the different types of entrepreneurial identities and organizational identities and which effects these identities have on each other. Overall, the findings reveal that the alignment of entrepreneurial identities, organizational identities and HR-enhancing practices is important before any benefits can arise.
