Abstract:Sitting at work was found to be the largest contributor of the daily sitting time. Office workers are at high risk for the negative consequences of sedentary behaviour. There is need for change, which can be done with the help of an eHealth intervention. Activate Your Sitting Awareness (AYSA) is a seat sensor system for office chairs with the aim to change sedentary behavior. The goal of this study is to develop a lo-fi prototype of the persuasive health application for AYSA, in order to change the sedentary behavior of office workers, based on a participatory design process and behavioral change theories. For the participatory development process the CeHRes Roadmap was used. The requirements were defined which shows that the most important requirements are about the content of the design. Important requirements are personalisation, tailoring, and adherence, all requirements matched the goal of AYSA. Persuasive features matched the requirements, which helped design the lo-fi prototype of the application. The lo-fi prototype was user-friendly, but needed a few adjustments. Implementation of the system is suggested with the help of the diffusion of innovation theory and organisational support. The lo-fi prototype can be further developed, with the help of more research about the Trans Theoretical Model.
