Abstract:Nowadays, innovativeness plays a crucial role in the effectiveness and survival of organizations as they constantly face global competition and rapid changes in the business environment and thus need to innovate in order to keep up with their competitors and eventually gain a competitive advantage. Particularly, the innovative work behavior (IWB) of employees portrays a crucial asset enabling organizations to achieve success in a continuously changing and evolving business environment. In order to foster IWB, innovative work climate and leadership behavior depict crucial influencing factors, however, the field of the synergy and mutual influence of leadership and climate as well as the assigning of the different leadership behaviors and climate dimensions to different IWB phases is most widely unexplored.This study illuminates these areas and additionally provides valuable implications and recommendations for management.
