Abstract:This internship was initiated by the VMI Group Epe to come up with concepts too improve the dynamic behavior of the LAT100, in order to improve test measurements. I’ve worked for 10 weeks on this assignment at the R&D department of VMI in the group Tire and Compound Testing. One pf their test machines, the LAT100, shows undesired resonances during the tests, depending on the different conditions on which the experiments are executed. The main goal of this internship is to explain what kind of mechanism causes these vibrations. I’ve first made analytical models of the machine to quickly identify possible causes. Furthermore I build FEM models, using SPACAR and MSC ADAMS, and these model were linked to MATLAB Simulink to mimic the dynamic behavior of the machine, using the same input variables as the real machine. Using these models, I developed a redesign of the swivel plate. The modifications were worked out in the models and the results showed that the resonances are shifting outside the working envelope of the machine. Finally I did dynamic measurements to verify my hypotheses and gain some work experience doing these vibration tests on the real machine.
