Abstract:Introduction: People low in Social Economic Status (SES) belong to the more vulnerable group of our society. This particular group is prone to an unhealthy lifestyle, a shorter life and less healthy life years in comparison to people high in SES. To reduce these differences and to promote a healthy lifestyle and more wellbeing, it is necessary to gain a more clear insight in health behaviour, used strategies and possible barriers concerning a more healthy lifestyle and which is present in this target population. A mobile application to monitor health behaviour and that can offer interventions is suitable in this era of advanced technology. E-health is an easy accessible way to reach as many people as possible in an appropriate manner and in this research it is translated into the app “meet moment”. Method: This research consists two parts: in-dept interviews and usability/acceptability tests. To gain insight in the health behaviours, strategies of change and barriers, in-depth interviews based on appreciative inquiry were conducted among fifteen participants. To test the usability and acceptability of the app “meet moment” a cognitive walkthrough in combination with the think aloud method and a semi-structured interview based on the Technology Acceptance Model were conducted among thirteen participants. Results: The experience of wellbeing was mostly defined in terms of connection through contact with human or animal. The respondents were conscious concerning the content of a unhealthy and healthy lifestyle and pointed out different ways to life healthier. It was found to be difficult to make the changes to life healthier. The most part of the thirteen people who took part in the usability and acceptability tests were positive about the use of the app. What was found to be difficult were some hard to understand concepts or sentences. Getting feedback on the questions of the monitoring app was found to be essential for the use of the app. Conclusion: The respondents are conscious about the pros and cons of an (un)healthy lifestyle and make their own adjustments. Though it seems that a lack of knowledge and skills make it difficult to make health changes stick. The idea of an healthmonitoringapp was experienced as positive. Future research should address change strategies and the best ways to make them work.
