Abstract:Young carers are young people living together with an ill family member. It appears to be important that young carers get supported in their caring situation, by learning to cope with negative experiences and to get more positive in life. With regard to developing an online self-help intervention, the approach of positive psychology (PP) is assumed to be suitable. Furthermore it is hypothesized that young people could get motivated to use an intervention by integrating gaming element. The study aimed to investigate by qualitative research how the young carers’ appreciate an existing intervention with positive psychology elements and an existing game version of the intervention. It appeared that PP elements and exercises are suitable and appealing for the target group of young carers. They were positive about the intention of PP and about the learning effects you can have. A large part of the participants was interested in using such an intervention. The game version was also appreciated positively, especially because of the motivational elements in it. It can be concluded that an intervention for young carers, containing elements and exercises from PP, seems useful. Furthermore, it seems to be practical to conduct a game version of the intervention.
