Abstract:This thesis describes the research that is done for Apparatenfabriek ARA. The lead time, referred to as the Manufacturing Critical Path Time, for the production of cabins for heavy duty farming equipment is longer than expected, so research is done to find out why this lead time is longer than expected and how the lead time can be reduced. The research question for this thesis is "How can the Manufacturing Critical Path Time be reduced?" The theories of Lean manufacturing and Quick Response Manufacturing are used to analyse the problem and generate solutions. Three main problems were identified and multiple potential solutions have been generated. The decision for the best solution is based on the criteria derived from the Lean and QRM theories. By implementing the solutions, the MCT can be reduced significantly, thereby answering the research question.
