Abstract:The present study investigated the relation of personality to self-compassion and social safeness. The two sub questions were: ‘’What is the association of personality with self-compassion’’ and ‘’What is the association of personality with social safeness’’. It was believed that neuroticism had a negative significant association with self-compassion and social safeness. For consciousness in association with self-compassion was not an expectation pronounced due to lack of literature. The expectation for the other personality traits was a positive association with self-compassion and social safeness. while the other personality traits had positive significant association. A sample of 80 Dutch speaking respondents was used whereby online questionnaire were taken to measure personality (NEO-FFI), self-compassion (SCS-SF) and social safeness (SSPS). Multiple regression analysis was used for investigating the influence of personality on self-compassion and social safeness. According to the results of the analysis, it was seen that the personality trait neuroticism had a negative significant association with self-compassion while the other personality traits did not had a positive significant association. For social safeness was found that extraversion and openness had a positive significant association. The other personality traits had not a significant influence on social safeness. Personality explains why people differ in experiencing more or less self-compassion and social safeness. People can be helped effectively by modifying treatments. The aim is an increasing self-compassion and social safeness which had a positive association with wellbeing
