Abstract: | Nowadays, cultural commons give young Europeans the platform to express their cultural identity. The commons have existed for centuries and are therefore not stated to be a new phenomenon. Nevertheless, recent controversial media attention on cultural commons, especially illegal cultural commons has led to a greater interest on scientific approaches to describe this phenomenon. Therefore, this research proposal outlines how I am going to answer the research question To what extent do illegal cultural commons express the European Cultural Identity? Even though the commons is already focus of several social researchers, cultural commons, especially illegal cultural commons and their values have not been connected to the concept of the modern European Cultural Identity yet. Further this study will bring insights regarding the current situation in Europe of illegal cultural commons. The results can help to improve the societal position towards these illegal cultural commons could contribute to the legalizations of these cultural institutions. |
