| Abstract: | A cancer diagnosis not only affects the lives of the patients, but also the lives of their partners. To meet partners in their needs for supportive interventions, the web-based intervention ‘Hold on, for each other’ has been developed. Web-based interventions have benefits like great potential for reaching people and the possibility to tailor information to the needs of a client. However, the effects of these interventions are small. This can partly be explained by the intensity of use of the participants and the problem of non-adherence. These insights in how individuals use a web-based intervention is often lacking. Therefore, the aims of the current study are (1) to give a general impression of the scope of non-adherence in current intervention and the intensity of use of different features in the intervention; (2) to find predictors of non-adherence by identifying differences between adherers and non-adherers in background variables, intervention usage and satisfaction; and (3) to identify the consequences of non-adherence and intensity of use on psychological distress. |
