Abstract:Background: The use of eHealth within the mental health care is increasing. It is used as a cost-cutting measure, but it also has a lot of other advantages for the clients as well as the therapists. Many health care providers are not aware of the benefits of eHealth. They experience some barriers which causes them to barely make use of eHealth technologies. According to the Technology Acceptance model there are three important determinants when predicting someone’s intention to use a new technologie: perceives usefulness, perceived ease of use and attitude. Subjective norm appears to be important as well Purpose: The purpose of the study is to learn more about the intention of psychologists in mental health care for the use of an online treatment module and what it takes for them to make use of it. Method: the intention is investigated using a semi-structures interview which is mainly based on the second version of the Technology Acceptance Model. This interview was conducted with six participants who are working as a psychologist in mental health care. The statements of the participants are coded and classified under broader themes. Results: The three themes that emerged in the statements of the participants were advantages, disadvantages and preconditions. The advantages that were mentioned by the participants were related to work efficiency, benefits for the client, lower thresholds and new developments. Disadvantages that were raised are the lack of non-verbal signals, it’s not suitable for everyone, possibly inefficient work and damage to the therapeutic relationship. The codes that emerged as preconditions are: an addition to face-to-face contact, a suitable module, practical constraints and motivation of the psychologist. Conclusion: The effect on the client is seen as most important by the psychologists. It must be suitable for the client and his disorder and it has to be proven that the module is effective. The online module must be user friendly and flexible, it is important that the psychologist fully agrees with the content of the module and it has to be additional to the face-to-face sessions. Further research is needed about the influence of the clients on the intention and attitude of the caregivers and the importance of the therapeutic relation.
