| Abstract: | Strong empirical evidence suggests that respondents are more likely to respond truthfully to a sensitive question if they feel that the anonymity and confidentiality of their response is granted. The Randomized Response Technique provides an approach to increase the response accuracy on sensitive questions while allowing a valid estimation of the prevalence of illegal or socially undesirable behavior and attitudes in the population. It was assumed that existing goodness-of-fit tests are suited for Randomized Response designs with binary data if the link function is adjusted. The assumption was evaluated in a simulation study for categorical and continuous data. Across a total amount of 210000 randomly generated samples, no significant difference in type-1 errors was found between randomized data and non-randomized data. The statistical power declined as the degree of randomization of the data was increased. No difference between categorical and continuous data was found. The obtained results strongly indicate that existing goodness-of-fit tests can be utilized for Randomized Response designs with binary data. |
