| Abstract: | This systematic review examines the relationship between fatigue and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). With help of literature search this relationship was investigated, while taking a further look at to what extent fatigue does play a role in the etiology of GAD, how fatigue is included in the diagnosis and treatment. A sum of 15 articles was found and the main results sorted and weighted by the author. It was concluded that the relationship between GAD and fatigue is not investigated entirely. It is claimed that fatigue in GAD is caused by sleep difficulties provoked by excessive worrying, rumination and hyperarousal. High comorbidity with MDD is indicating a great overlap of symptoms, amongst them fatigue, which could be traced back to a common underlying factor between both disorders. |
