Abstract:Objective: For a long period of time the treatment models of personality disorders showed inadequate results. The existing models had insufficient depth for this complex target group. In response, schema therapy was developed by Jeffrey Young. This form of therapy has proven to be a good treatment for clients with a personality disorder. In spite of this treatment, the dropout rate with personality disorders is often higher than in treatment of other psychological problems. The impact that drop-out entails, generates substantial costs to the client, the caregivers and the society. Purpose: Research on factors that may predict an increased risk of drop-out, in clients with a personality disorder of a clinical treatment setting. This prediction is examined based on the following main question; are there predictors to identify during the intake phase, which increases the risk of drop out?
