| Abstract: | Data from trauma registries can be used as a basis for programs aiming to improve the treatment quality of trauma patients. In The Netherlands trauma registration is done at the Dutch National Trauma Registry (LTR). Germany has the TraumaRegister DGU (TR-DGU). Different ways to calculate a prediction for the probability of survival for trauma patients are used in these registries. In the Dutch LTR, the probability of survival is calculated according to the TRISS (Trauma and Injury Severity Score), the German TR-DGU uses the RISC II (Revised Injury Severity Classification, version II). While there are various known shortcomings of the TRISS, like having problems with accuracy or vulnerability to missing data, the RISC II has recently been introduced and has shown promising results. This study compared the prediction of survival based on the RISC II with the prediction of the TRISS. |
