Abstract:The execution of the aggression policy of the municipality of Hengelo has been evaluated. It has been analyzed to determine whether it conforms to legal standards and to identify the responsibilities of the policy executives. It largely conforms to legal standards and the key executives of the policy are employees and supervisors. Surveys have been held to determine the size and nature of aggression against employees is, the extent in which the policy is executed and to analyze which factors influence the execution. The actual size and nature of incidents involving aggression is far larger than the number of registered incident. Verbal aggression is the most common sort of aggression, threats and physical aggression are less common. On average employees and supervisors sufficiently execute the policy, there are however differences between departments in the execution. The procedure of reporting en registering incidents as well as training the employees in aggression management are not being executed sufficiently. The strongest positive significant influence on executing the policy has been found for supporting and knowing the policy. Belonging to a certain department may have a strong influence on the execution as well, a smaller influence was found for being able to execute it.
