Abstract:Background: Using the Existential Anxiety Questionnaire (EAQ) the degree of existential anxiety can be measured. This English questionnaire has been translated into Dutch in former studies and has been reformed to the Dutch Ultimate Concern Scale (DUCS). In this paper there will be tested if the DUCS is ready to use. Method: A qualitative research was conducted with eight subjects. Using Three Step Test Interviewing the subjects filled in the DUCS and answered a couple of additional questions from the interviewers. Based on this data all of the 25 questions can be examined whether they are suitable for use in terms of formulation and content clarity. Besides the possible problems with the questions there will be examined what the function is of the introduction and if the questionnaire is stressful for the subjects to fill. Results & Discussion: There is one item in the DUCS which indicates problems in terms of content clarity, but there are no questions that indicate problems in terms of formulation. The added example questions in the introduction of the DUCS cause a positive evaluation of the introduction and also the questionnaire was not stressful to fill according to the subjects. The DUCS in its current form is suitable to use and can also be used for collecting norm data for the use of interpreting the scores.
