Abstract:During recent years it has been done much more research in the field of stress or rather relaxation, which should improve the daily life of people. Especially the music sector has been researched. It gets more and more interesting to differentiate and specify different kinds of music which conduct somebody in several ways to get relaxed. Fact is that introvert and extrovert persons prefer to listen to different types of music. Furthermore we know that people, who are listening to music that has 60bpm, have less excitement than listening to a piece of music that is quicker than 75bpm. Extroverts like to increase their level of arousal and introvert people don’t .This created the assumption that extroverts while listening to music with 130bpm have a larger decrease of electrodermal activity than introverts, and vice versa. Resultantly a study with four different groups is carried out, spread over both their personalities, as well as the two music versions of the groups. During the investigation the results were through a trend by that people can relax better while listening to a 60bpm song than during the 130bpm version and that listening to quiet music leads also to relaxation supported. Furthermore no effects between music, personality and physiology have been found, although it’s clear to see that people get stressed during the Trier Social Stress Test (a short-duration social stresstest) and they can also relax well again while listening to music. The pace of music bears no relation to personality and thereby to relaxation.
